Ambulance work is prone to burn out. I left through burn out and staff bitchiness. I did my own research. I found:
With increases in staff qualifications means the decrease in ambulances available.
With less ambulances comes higher workloads.
This means travelling further to calls which causes driver fatigue by the time you locate.
If control is constantly holding on to calls then that means there aint enough ambulances.
To fund more ambulances & staff means cheaper vehicles & lesser qualified staff.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3573632931588970083.post-39573209333056106792016-09-05T09:48:07.062+01:002016-09-05T09:48:07.062+01:00I was super chipper for the first 10 years. A 100 year old profession and it's culture born out of necessity was invaded by a generation with "new initiatives" and soundbites to appease successive governments made up of like minded individuals. This was done for their own careers and at the expense of its workers and the public. Mirrored practices by Corporations throughout the UK have left us where we are as an organisation and as a country. It is an infection known as Thatherism and/or Blairism. The cure is known as Jeremy Corbyn. When I became so depressed that I was frequently in floods of tears at work, inconsoleable, I received no help. If you need help you need to specifically ask for it and if you don't know what to ask for, feel too low to ask or are simply someone who always shows a positive side and just soldiers on you get nothing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3573632931588970083.post-35832724183591821472015-05-18T08:46:59.226+01:002015-05-18T08:46:59.226+01:00Fionna Moore is the right person to take the servi...Fionna Moore is the right person to take the service forward. Unfortunately she is surrounded by a group of managers with a nihilistic approach to crews. Unless she removes these nasty individuals from the service it will remain the same. Be strong Fionna start from scratch.anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13273436973036268535noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3573632931588970083.post-49525216451346830202015-05-16T23:42:31.402+01:002015-05-16T23:42:31.402+01:00Shame you didn't spend time in the control roo...Shame you didn't spend time in the control room talking to the staff there, but it would have been the same thing - you'd be put with someone who's all smiles because they're being looked after. Obviously they weren't going to put you with someone who just complains all the time. Everyone loves to vent - bear in mind that for some people in the service, it's "cool" to just whine about everything. Frontline staff are all under pressure. To get things right, to be efficient, time after time, sometimes dealing with unprofessional and out of touch managers. Staff welfare is, in my opinion, just a box to be ticked. Staff support service details are available on the Pulse (intranet), but that's like telling a drowning person to swim to shore.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3573632931588970083.post-18873498994017933942015-05-14T14:42:23.825+01:002015-05-14T14:42:23.825+01:00Think it would have good if they could have sat yo...Think it would have good if they could have sat you down with some staff who were impacted by this and allow them time to talk. Think you should get a shift with a regular crew and spend some time in a crew room to get a true feel of the Las. The sad part of this story is that most staff within the NHS still love their job and what they do, but just feel downtrodden by an uncaring unsimpathetic management that are only interested in bums on seats and times. Welfare, what welfare!!!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07447578446168782033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3573632931588970083.post-9135414468229953672015-05-12T19:00:54.035+01:002015-05-12T19:00:54.035+01:00Nicely balanced, but in truth the person you spoke...Nicely balanced, but in truth the person you spoke to still hasn't had that long in the job, even the most positive people can be worn down, lots of the so called weary veterans were probably the same when they started. Yes I know its almost quoting you but it's true. Looking forward to the next instalment mate, if only the so called professional journos could write as well as you do perhaps us old vets and new blood might eventually get a better deal !!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
